WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland, II applauded House passage today of the Fiscal Year 2014 “Path to Prosperity” budget, a plan that will preserve Medicare, simplify the tax code, and balance the budget in 10 years.
“There is no better illustration of a contrast in visions for America than the budget plans laid out by each party’s leadership in Congress,” Southerland said. “Today, I was pleased to join my House Republican colleagues in approving a budget that balances in 10 years, while reducing spending by $4.6 trillion and implementing critical tax reform that doesn’t demand more revenue from hardworking American families. Washington Democrats, on the other hand, proposed a budget that never balances, while increasing taxes by more than $900 billion. The American people deserve a budget blueprint that builds a better future for our children and grandchildren, and I believe the House plan will do just that.”
