WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Steve Southerland, II issued the following statement today in recognition of the 237th anniversary of America’s independence:

“As we join together with family, friends, and neighbors to observe Independence Day, let us recommit to the uniquely American principles that set us apart from the world. The fight for freedom that began 237 years ago in a Philadelphia hall is continued today by the brave men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line to keep our nation safe. Their sacrifices, and those of the heroes who came before, are remembered this Fourth of July.”
