Southerland Votes to Repeal Health Care Law
Matt McCullough, Communications Director (202) 225-5235
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representative Steve Southerland, II issued the following statement today following House approval of H.R. 6079, legislation that repeals the health care reform law:
“When the Supreme Court issued its opinion on the President’s health care reform law, it made clear that Congress must be responsible for fixing its own policy mistakes. Bad process led to this bad policy, and the American people have demanded that we make it right. For the 10th time since I have been in Congress, the People’s House has voted to eliminate all or part of this destructive law. I am hopeful that Harry Reid will finally act upon the will of the American people and allow an up or down vote in the Senate. We don’t need government bureaucrats standing between us and our doctors. And we can’t afford this record tax increase, or the higher premium costs and reduced access to care that comes with it.”
